Getting to number 1 on Google should cost a fortune
But by fortune I don't mean in $, £, Yen or Euros. I mean in time spent listening to others and a great deal of effort on you and your colleagues part in delivering what you said you would deliver.
There shouldn't be an easy way to get to the top of the natural listings of a search engine.
You shouldn't be able to get their just because someone runs a piece of software for you. You definitely shouldn't be able to get their just because you are a big company who have decided to venture into a new field.
The way you should get there is by coming up with an idea that people want, delivering it in a way they want it - They will then tell other people about it who will also buy it.
You may need to tell a few people yourself and, yes, there may be some "techie" stuff that you need to do but that's minor.
It should be just as expensive as building a personal reputation and you definitely shouldn't be able to do it in 1 minute, 1 hour or 1 day.
Getting to number 1 on Google should cost a fortune, shouldn't it?
